Now with over 20 years of experience in implants, we now find that this has become one of the most essential parts of many dental treatment plans. Using natural grafts of bone and/ or tissue if necessary, we can replace bone and/ or missing teeth with implants. Then we can place attachments of many different designs depending on the case. This allows us to return the patient to full function and comfort. In almost all cases this allows us to eliminate appliances that move or come out during talking or eating. Whenever appropriate, this is designed into our treatment plans and becomes the key ingredient in creating a predictable and cosmetic result. Although this is a constantly changing field, the predictability of implants is now comparable to any other form of dental therapy.
The single most dramatic example of this is the denture patient that cannot any longer wear a denture successfully. There are at least 4 levels of treatment that can allow almost all denture patients to return to full comfort and stability. This can be diagnosed in one appointment and the actual treatment can be accomplished in as little as one appointment, depending on the case.
